Breast augmentation is a popular procedure that is designed to increase the volume of the breast, while maintaining the shape and position of the nipple. The majority of patients present with an A or B cup and wish to be a C or a D. A number of approaches have been tried in the past to locate the implants below the muscle or below the breast itself. Professor Kelly uses a dual plane technique as popularised by Dr Tebbetts in Texas.
This technique attempts to camouflage the implant beneath the upper pole of the breast and also gives a fuller projection in the lower pole. Professor Kelly uses textured silicone implants that are manufactured by Allergan and Mentor. These are the best that are currently available. He has never used PIP implants.
