Professor Kelly has completed fellowship training in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston and Shriner’s Burn Hospital, Galveston, Texas. In addition, he has completed a micro-surgical fellowship in the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery and St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. He is a former secretary of the Irish Association of Plastic Surgery and current chairman of their Research and Education Committee. He has trained over 25 Consultant Plastic Surgeons and is the current Perioperative Clinical Director at Galway University Hospital.
Jack works as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Galway University Hospital, Newcastle Road and is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
His research interests focus on clinical practice and tissue engineering. He collaborates with the National Centre for Bioengineering Science (NCBES) and has published research in collaboration with other Departments in the University.
He worked as a Research Fellow in The Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston and has an MD by thesis through UCC from this work. He also researched tissue engineering in the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery and St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne and published a number of papers in International Journals.In total, Jack has over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals and over 200 National and International presentations.
